washington state

in the beginning of the trip it had not been finally decided whether we would cross the boarder and pay washington state a visit for the last day or two.
but both my dad and me were somehow attracted to the idea of entering the US and crossing the cascades on our way to the coast, so we did it.

it was definitely worth it, and not just because of numerous photos and an awesome(!!) seafood dinner in oak harbor on our last evening.
short summary goes like this:
– stopped in omak: quite deserted, the country feels really vast in that region
– drove to chief joseph dam: the gates suddenly opened while we were standing next to
them. lots of water
– stopped in winthrop (like the dam, this was actually the recommendation of an american
border patrol guy): it is really pretty
– crossed the cascades: beautiful drive, unfortunately the weather was cloudy…
